Dollar and oil

At 8:25 p.m. October 5, 2009 BreakingNews reported "UK's The Independent: Arab states have launched secret moves with China, Russia and France to stop using the US currency for oil trading." A news story from the Independent, which is dated October 6, 2009, develops the story.

The Washington Post did not have a news 'alert' about this nor did they have a story in the standard news sections on October 6. I have not been able to find a report from them about this. Hence, even though "BreakingNews" thought it was breaking news it seems not to have been given that importance by The Post. It seems very odd that I cannot find anything since every other news source in the world has been writing or talking about it.

The first search for "dollar oil" with Archivist produced 1500 messages. The first of the messages found combining oil and dollar was from 9:28 p.m September 30. A few people were ahead of the 'game.' And I have captured the tweeting from its beginning.

November 8, 2009 time to stop the search. The total number of messages is 8596, but the stream about the dollar losing its status as the global currency has morphed into the dollar and oil prices going up and down together.
